September is Suicide Prevention Month!
Do you know the warning signs?
We had the incredible opportunity to interview Brett Marciel of The Jason Foundation and hear how this organization is helping spread awareness to prevent suicide in youth and young adults, not only in Tennessee, but worldwide!
The Jason Foundation provides educational materials and programs at NO COST to teachers, individuals, and organizations. Their work is helping to teach children, teachers and families, how to spot warning signs, how to build resilience, how to be a friend, and the important role of cultivating empathy for others to help them cope with life's challenges.
We can't say enough about this phenomenal organization!
Some warning signs:
Suddenly deteriorating school performance
Changes in school attendance
Talking about suicide or making suicide threats
Loss of interest in things or activities they used to enjoy doing
An unusual interest in death and dying
Taking unnecessary risks
Feelings of hopelessness
Depression
Bullying: Both the victim of bullying and the bully are at risk
